03 - 06 July 2017, Manchester, UK

IOP EMAG 2017 Logo

Organised by the Institute of Physics's Electron Microscopy and Analysis Group (EMAG), the 2017 EMAG conference will be part of mmc2017.

Inkeeping with the established EMAG traditions, EMAG 2017 will include

  • Three days of talks each with two parallel sessions covering various electron microscopy themes in the life and physical sciences.
  • Lively poster sessions.
  • Published proceedings with full papers peer reviewed during the meeting.
  • An impressive list of world class EMAG invited speakers.
  • Plenty of social activities with opportunities to catch up with old friends and to make new ones.

But by being a part of mmc2017, EMAG delegates can enjoy:

  • A larger than usual trade exhibition of microscopy and imaging equipment, with an expected one hundred companies demonstrating the widest range of equipment and consumables.
  • Benefit from the opportunities for interaction and cross disciplinary discussions with participants from other complementary meetings occurring simultaneously in the same venue including Scanning Probe Microscopy and BioImaging UK.
  • Links with more workshops and training events than were possible with a stand-alone EMAG, as well as opportunities for participants to contribute to the RMS International Scientific Imaging Competitions.

EMAG Proceedings

If your abstract has been accepted for an EMAG, EPS or Celtic Session at mmc2017, you have the opportunity to submit a paper to the conference proceedings, which will be published by IOP Publishing in Journal of Physics: Conference Series(JPCS). This is an Open Access journal indexed in Web of Science and other online article databases (unique DOI).

The submission deadline for full (4 page) submitted papers will be just before the conference on 1 July 2017.

The published proceedings will be a great opportunity to showcase the quality and range of research being presented at the conference as well as promote the event to a wider international audience. The title of the paper and author list does not have to be identical to the oral or poster contribution. Online publication of the conference proceedings is expected to be within 3 months of the conference. View an example of previous EMAG Proceedings.

Templates and instructions for Authors can be found at http://conferenceseries.iop.org/content/authors .

Papers must be submitted for review in pdf format , and sent to the Editor of the Proceedings, Dr Cate Ducati, at emag2017.proceedings@gmail.com

Previous events

mmc2017 is the latest in an impressive list of events dating back to the 1960s starting with the Micro conference and exhibition series. This later became MicroScience which grew ever-bigger until 2010. The RMS hosted the European Microscopy Congress in 2012 which was the catalyst for the current Microscience Microscopy Congress series.
